Lennox Furnace Prices – How Much Does Lennox Furnace Cost

An installed Lennox furnace cost is $3,250 to $11,650. Lennox makes the largest selection of any major brand – and the average cost of a Lennox furnace installed is around $7,000.

Our research comes from a wide range of data including Lennox dealers and homeowners who have had a Lennox furnace installed in the recent past.

Buyer beware! Furnace prices are at an all-time high as supply-chain and labor issues continue to plague manufacturing.

Lennox Furnace Packages – the Unit Plus Installation

You can’t buy a Lennox furnace and find your own installer – other than the occasional one found on eBay or a scratch-and-dent model from a wholesale warehouse.

Almost all Lennox furnaces are sold in a package deal by local Lennox dealers. The most Lennox does is give a number of dollar signs on its site ranging from the priciest $$$$ to the cheapest $.

Prices include removal and disposal of the old furnace, installation of the new furnace including minor changes to ductwork, often a new thermostat etc. If the ductwork needs major changes, that’s a different cost. So is a new indoor evaporator coil if the system has central air conditioning.

Trane is the only major manufacturer willing to show actual cost estimates on its site – and we commend them for that transparency.

As you can see from the Lennox Furnace Price List, Lennox makes 3 series, a lot like Carrier, American Standard, Heil, Rheem and a lot of other manufacturers.

The names give the public a sense of price and performance.

In terms of Lennox furnace prices and quality:

  • Lennox Merit furnaces are basic – cheaper parts, shorter warranties of 5 years on general parts and 20 years on the heat exchanger. However, there are some very efficient furnaces in this range that offer good value.
  • Lennox Elite furnaces are better. These are Lennox best-sellers, a good blend of quality with reasonable cost. Warranties are better – usually 10 years on parts and 20 years of lifetime on the heat exchanger. A blend of single-stage and two-stage furnaces, some with variable-speed blowers for improved climate control.
  • Dave Lennox Signature furnaces are the best furnaces Lennox makes. They offer premium performance in 80% and 90%-plus furnaces. Warranties are 10 years on parts and lifetime on heat exchangers.

Lennox Furnace Price by Efficiency

When quality is the same, the more efficient the furnace is, the higher the cost.

However, if you look at the Lennox price list, you’ll see that some 80% furnaces are quite a lot more expensive than furnaces with higher efficiency.

It’s simply because of the quality of the more expensive furnaces. Sometimes performance plays a part too – as in the use of a two-stage gas valve or variable-speed blower.

These include the SL297nv, SL280V, EL195NE and EL180NE.

Perhaps you’re familiar with furnace performance. If not, it has also been explained in both our Trane Gas Furnace Price List guide and the Carrier Furnace Price List guide, so we’ll make this a briefer version.

Furnaces are fitted with one of three types of gas valve assemblies: Single-stage, two-stage and modulating, also called variable-capacity.

Single-stage gas furnaces fire at 100% whenever they’re running. The advantage is that they are lower priced. The disadvantage is that they can heat slightly past the thermostat set point since they’re firing on full blast. Lennox makes some of the most efficient single-stage furnaces available.

Most have fixed-speed blowers or multi-speed blowers, and when they are supporting the central air conditioner as the air handler, they don’t remove as much humidity from the air.

Two-stage furnaces have low-fire of about 65% and high-fire 100% capacity. They’ll operate at the lower setting whenever possible, as long as they can keep up with the heating requirement. The low-heat setting is quieter and gentler, with better temperature control.

Many have variable-speed blowers that support two-stage air conditioners, and remove more humidity from the air as a result. They are mid-priced, usually mid-efficiency and a good value.

Variable-capacity furnaces have gas valves that modulate in small increments between 40% and 100%. Like cruise control, they adjust in tiny increments to keep the temperature exactly where you want it.

In most weather, they run below 60% to produce the quietest, gentlest heating cycles. They are also ideal for humidity control when supporting central air conditioning in humid conditions.

The newer Lennox SLP99V is currently the most efficient gas furnace available.

Lennox Furnace Prices Cost Factors

As noted earlier, the worldwide issues with manufacturer, shipping and labor are causing all brands to reflect higher costs.

Here are other factors:

  • Furnace Size – Each Lennox furnace series has models starting between 40,000 and 60,000 BTU. The largest models are generally around 120,000 BTU, but can be larger.
  • Efficiency – Lennox’s lineup of furnaces is the most efficient available, and that is reflected in some of the prices. Lower gas bills help offset higher cost, but there are times when it might not be advantageous to spend a lot more for better efficiency. You simply might not recoup the extra cost.
  • Performance – Stages of heating affect cost. Modulating furnaces are easily the most expensive – and again, we’re not sure that choosing a variable-capacity/modulating furnace is worth the significant extra cost.
  • Cost of Living – Local cost of living and even dealer competition can cause the price of a furnace to vary by as much as $1,000.

Lennox Warranties

Among major brands, Lennox has the least impressive warranties.

For example, all Carrier furnaces have a 10-year parts warranty and a lifetime heat exchanger warranty.

Quite a few Lennox furnaces are backed by just a 5-year parts warranty and 20-year heat exchanger warranty. It’s the 5-year parts warranty that is of greatest concern.

But labor isn’t included anyway. Many homeowners don’t realize that labor isn’t included on the parts warranties of most manufacturers. Just the cost of the part.

There’s a lot more information in our Pick HVAC Guide to HVAC Warranties.

Energy Company Rebates

Did you know that your energy provider probably offers rebates on the installation of energy efficient HVAC equipment?

For example, you’ll find rebates of $150 to around $500, which varies by energy company, on Lennox high-efficiency gas furnaces.

Get the Lowest Prices on a Lennox Furnace

It starts with getting written estimates from several local dealers that understand they are competing for the business.

Then, make sure you’re comparing furnaces of comparable efficiency, performance and quality.

Ask about warranty coverage – and if the installer offers a workmanship warranty, and how long it is. This might prevent you from having to pay labor in the first few years if the furnace needs repair.

And before you hire an installer, check out their online reviews to see what experience others have had with them.

If you’d like to get Free Local Estimates today from pre-screened Lennox furnace installers – most of them install other brands too, so you can discuss options – use the convenient tab or toll-free number on this page.
