Before you dive into the specific brand review, we highly recommend you to read our elaborate Gas Furnace Buying Guide in advance. There are several crucial steps you need to take before you even start to think about the brand.
How many brands of gas furnaces do you know? This is one question homeowners must ask themselves before ordering a gas furnace for their homes. Some brands are completely unknown to consumers but have some of the best heating and cooling features. The Heil gas furnace is one such brand that has done little advertising in the past ten years making it known to consumers. Heil is widely known by contractors and dealers dealing with HVAC systems. There are several reasons that make Heil a good choice for most homeowners.
Heil is owned by ICP, a company owned by Carrier, the parent company. You have probably heard of Carrier gas furnaces. I could expect these two companies to do a lot of research before they can release any of their products to the market. Heil gas furnaces have incorporated some of the latest technologies into their furnaces making them easy to run, fix and monitor. Here is a quick navigation for this guide:
Features of Heil Gas Furnace
Durable RPJ primary heat exchanger
The primary heat exchanger has a rippled edge design technology that allows more heat to move to the outer part making the unit more efficient. The heat exchanger is made stainless steel that is corrosion resistant. The heat exchanger has a lifetime warranty although it is recommended you have a carbon monoxide detector for any fossil burning.
A two stage redundant gas valve
The two-stage gas valve comes with an induced two-speed draft motor for high and low fire. This is a unique feature that allows homeowners to save money when properly installed. The variable speed motor smoothly ramps up the heat whenever you need the house warmed.
A variable speed blower
Almost all Heil gas furnaces come with a quiet variable speed blower that is pre-lubricated. The lubrication allows the furnaces to work without much noise. It reduces vibration making the furnace operate smoothly.
Reliable hot surface ignition
The surface ignition system comes with an advanced igniter that improves reliability. The igniter is made of Silicon Nitride.
Patent Observer communicating system (unique feature)
This latest technology allows the various parts of the gas furnace to communicate with each other for better operation and efficiency of the unit.

We advise homeowners not forget to buy extended labor warranty when considering highest-end models. In most cases, the labor fee for high-end series will skyrocket.
Contractor Feedback about Heil
Finding a Heil furnace is nowadays very easy. Most people are buying them online and having a contractor install them than buying directly from a contractor. This will save you a lot of money allowing you to choose the right model and size for your home.
Most complaints on Heil are on older units. Heil is an American product built with pride. However, most problems that consumers face arise from poor installation of the unit.-Bart

QUIETCOMFORT DELUXE$2,649Vestal, NY2500 sqft |
I purchased this furnace around six years ago. It is efficient, simple, works well but it is a bit expensive as compared to other brands. However, I cannot complain much about the price because compared to the performance of the unit, the price is reasonable and I see now that I got value for my money. The furnace runs quietly with little or no noise at all and I have not done any repairs or replacements. I can say that I am happy with this unit. The only thing I would like to stress to other users is that they should have a qualified Technician install their furnace or else they will have problems. I would buy this brand again if I ever need one. |
QuietComfort G9MAE$2,449Boston, MA3100 sqft |
I have owned a Heil furnace for about twelve years. I purchased new together with my house when I moved in. So far it’s operating efficiently, and it’s very reliable. The only thing I have done on my furnace has changed the filters and no other major repairs. I also did a replacement of the converter at the AC unit compressor outside that is not necessarily part of my furnace. I had a technician inspect my furnace recently, and he confirmed that it is still running like a new one. It is as well very efficient, and my heating bill has dropped drastically I would recommend this brand to anyone to purchase one. |

After numerous research for the best gas furnace regarding price and performance finally settled for this model. I met a contractor who took me through all the specifications of this model and then installed the unit for me. My experience with Heil has been great, and I would buy this brand again and again. I have had my f for five years now, and no single repair plus the unit runs without the noise, you can barely hear it or notice whether it’s functioning or not. You know what he was right; I haven’t had a problem with mine for years. |
G9MVE$1,189Minnesota2300 sqft |
The low price is what attracted me into buying this model which I have owned for about four and a half years now. The stainless steel secondary heat exchanger is of high quality. With this unit, I saved money on this equipment and still got high efficiency not forgetting the double stage valve and motor giving reliable performance. The unit is economical in the long run, and I would buy this brand again. |
PERFORMANCE Series$1,599New York2500 sqft |
I had an old furnace, but it stopped functioning during the last winter. I decided to try a Heil furnace as recommended by one of my cousins. The PS95 model heats my house quick and even, and my gas bills have gone down by a noticeable margin. I am yet to do any repairs on this model, and I don’t expect to do any repairs soon. If I am to buy again, I will, of course, buy Heil again although the prices are a little high. |

A Heil furnace was recently installed in a rental townhome I live in. The previous was a Lennox Diplomat, original to the 1994 home.
The installer boasted at how this is a better furnace when in fact, they installed the cheapest, NMSL/N8MSN, in the Chicago area. According to your map, that’s recommended for a few warmer climates. Very disappointed as it is not heating a good portion of the lower level, as well as the old 1 did, though it was on it’s last leg.
I just had a new #117030 Gas Valve installed in my Heil furnace. The gas valve cost $599.13. Is this the correct suggested retail price? Price did not include installation.

In 2014 we put in a Quietcomfort VC 97 Variable-Speed Modulating Gas Furnace.
Las year we had water leaking from the furnace and I thought it was fixed.
Now, October 2020 I went down to the furnace room to find water is once again leaking from the furnace. It is 16 degrees outside and I do not want a furnace failure.
I am discouraged. Is the an install problem or a furnace defect?
We have lived in this house and have had only three furnaces. I am beginning to question the quality of this product.
