York Gas Furnace Prices and Reviews 2025

Note: Before you dive into the specific brand review, we highly recommend you to read our elaborate Gas Furnace Buying Guide in advance. There are several crucial steps you need to take before you even start to think about the brand.

York is a brand of furnace marketed by York International Corporation. Originally founded in 1874 in York, Pennsylvania, the company originally manufactured ice machines and eventually transitioned to air conditioning.

York’s lineup of gas furnaces span across four series—Affinity, LX, Latitude, and Diamond—and includes single-stage, two-stage and variable speed models, compact in size. Affinity is the companies top line of furnaces and its highest efficiency model is recognized as one of the best on the market today with an AFUE rating of up to 98%. This rating compares to the 98.3% of the top Bryant gas furnace and is one of the highest available for a gas furnace. A York gas furnace will cost more, however, but for those looking to pay for a brand on the premium side, York is as reputable and reliable as they come. Here is  the quick navigation of this guide:

Comparison of York Furnaces with other brands

Comparing York furnaces with other large manufacturers of HVAC, a few important aspects are involved. This is a full comparison in various aspects:

Value & Price Point

York furnaces tend to be in the middle price range, which means that they are cheaper than such high-end brands as Carrier or Lennox. The average York furnace installation is between 3,000 and 5,500 dollars with high-end brands costing more than 6,000 dollars. Such pricing policy makes York a good choice of those homeowners who have limited budget, but still need a good heating system.

Energy Efficiency

The high-efficiency models of York have an AFUE rating of up to 96 percent that is competitive with other leading brands. Nevertheless, such brands as Carrier and Lennox have models that go up to 98% AFUE. Although this difference may not appear large, it may have implications on long-term energy savings in colder climates. However, the efficiency ratings of York are still higher than Energy Star and save a lot of energy compared to the old furnaces.

Warranty Coverage

The warranty of York is comparable to the industry standards, as it provides a lifetime limited warranty on heat exchangers and 10 years limited warranty on parts when registered. Nevertheless, other brands such as Goodman and Trane may have more favorable warranty conditions or have broader coverage. It is important to mention that the warranty registration of York should be made within 90 days after installation, which is a shorter period than the one provided by some of its competitors.

Availability and Service Network

York has a widespread dealer network across the United States, though not as extensive as some larger brands like Carrier or Lennox. This can affect both installation availability and service response times in some areas. However, York’s parent company, Johnson Controls, ensures stable parts availability and technical support throughout the country.

In conclusion, York furnaces offer a balanced combination of affordability, decent efficiency, and reliable performance, making them a solid choice for homeowners seeking value without premium pricing. While they may not lead in cutting-edge features or absolute top-tier performance, they maintain competitive standards across most important aspects of home heating solutions.

    • There are a lot of other factors that go into determining btu ratings. Basement 2-3 stories, what percentage of furnace do you want. A 90% is more efficient than an 80% and requires less btu’s to do the job.
