Honeywell has one of the more varied humidifiers collections. That means you can find cool mist and cool moisture humidifiers alongside warm mist systems and bypass humidifiers. They truly have something for every home, whether you need a portable unit, 3-gallon systems, or an affordable whole-house humidifier that connects to your ductwork.

Honeywell Cool Mist Humidifiers

Cool mist humidifiers are the most popular choice with consumers today, and you’ll find more systems in this class than with any other style. Honeywell currently has five humidifiers in this range, with four ultrasonic machines and one evaporative humidifier.

One of the company’s top evaporative humidifiers is the Honeywell Easy Care HCM-750. It has a coverage range of up to 480 square feet to go along with an illuminated water window. The HCM-750 has three speeds with an output of 1.9 gallons and can run for 48 hours on low.  It also has an excellent warranty compared to similar systems from other brands at 3 years.

Honeywell Mist Mate HUL520

Honeywell Mist Mate HUL520

The Honeywell Mist Mate HUL520 is an ultrasonic humidifier geared towards small spaces up to 150 square feet. With a 0.5-gallon tank and runtime of 20 hours, it’s enough to get you through the night, and it won’t take up much space on a bedside table. This system is available in four different colors with White, Black, Red, and Blue.

Honeywell’s next step up from a capacity standpoint is the HUL535. It can go for a full 24 hours before needing to be refilled and has a 1-gallon tank with a slightly higher output of 1.5 gallons. The Honeywell HUL535 is essentially a larger version of the HUL520, but their next two models have a completely different design and a few new features.

If you want a cool mist humidifier with a tank you can fill at the sink, the Honeywell HUL570 is their best option. This ultrasonic system can run for up to 35 hours before needing filled and is best suited for rooms up to 300 square feet. The Honeywell HUL430 Designer Series Humidifier has similar specifications but a shorter runtime of up to 24 hours, although that’s not the real draw of this system.

Essential oils are a popular form of aromatherapy, but not necessarily made for use in a humidifier. These oils can damage your machine or degrade your water tank unless the system is built for it, and the HUL430 is completely safe, thanks to an essential oils tray. Features like an adjustable illuminated water window and textured housing make this an attractive unit as well.

Honeywell Cool Moisture Humidifiers

The Honeywell HEV320 is the company’s smallest cool moisture humidifier. It’s an evaporative system that’s a breeze to use thanks to features like a wide opening. The 0.8-gallon break-resistant tank is located around the back and can hold enough water for 18 hours of usage. It’s rated for small to medium rooms, whereas the Honeywell QuietCare Cool Mist HEV355 is designed for slightly larger areas.

This humidifier uses the company’s QuietCare technology, which makes it up to 30% quieter than other evaporative systems. The HEV355 has three speeds, and the same shatter-resistant tank found on the HEV320, but its 1.1 gallons. Honeywell designed this system with dishwasher-safe parts, and the runtime is listed at 24 hours on low.

Honeywell HCM350

Honeywell HCM-350

The Honeywell HCM-350 is a variant of that humidifier with the same specifications aside from a built-in UV light that kills up to 99.9% of waterborne bacteria. Other humidifiers in this range include the Honeywell HCM-710, which is a top-fill humidifier with a 1-gallon tank that’s rated for 36 hours. It’s another budget-friendly system, but the Honeywell HEV685 Console Humidifier is on the opposite end of the spectrum.

The HEV685 humidifier has dual 1.5-gallon top fill water tanks that can be removed. It’s rated for areas up to 1,000 square feet or larger and has three speeds. There are also notification lights to let you know when the humidity level has been reached, or your tank has run dry. Two other premium humidifiers in this tier are the Honeywell HEV615 and the HEV620.

The Honeywell HEV620 is the larger of the two with a 1.7-gallon tank. Its dual-fill has notification lights and is ideal for larger rooms up to 700 square feet in size. It can run for up to 24 hours and has a 12-hour timer to go along with a programmable digital humidistat. The HEV615 is a variant of that system, but with an adjustable LED humidistat and a 1.5-gallon tank.

Honeywell Warm Mist Humidifiers

You won’t find as many warm mist humidifiers with Honeywell as you will from other companies, but they do have two systems available. The Honeywell HWM845 Filter Free Warm Mist Humidifier is a tabletop humidifier with two output settings and the ability to run up to 24 hours before you need to fill the tank. Standout features for this model include refill light for the tank, auto shut-off, and an essential oil feature.

Honeywell HWM-340B

Honeywell HWM-340B

The Honeywell HWM-340B is billed as an easy to care for humidifier, so it fills from the top and also has a filter-free design. You can use inhalants with this system through the medicine cup, and while it’s rated for 24-hours as well, it holds a bit more water with a 1.3-gallon tank. It has an output of 3 gallons and is good for areas up to 400 square feet.

Honeywell Whole House Humidifiers

Honeywell Home HE360A1075 HE360A Whole House Humidifier

Honeywell HE360A1075

With whole-house humidifiers, Honeywell has four systems to choose from, and their sole Flow-through system is the Honeywell HE360A1075. This fan-based humidifier is perfect for homes up to 4,500 square feet, lightweight, and mounts directly to your furnace. It’s simple to install and maintain, but the company has two drum-based bypass humidifiers as well.

The Honeywell Whole House HE280A2001/U is their top-tier unit in this class, with a range of 4,000 square feet. It has a unique water trap inside with the PerfectFLO system, which allows this system to use up to 30% less water than a traditional drum humidifier. The Honeywell HE240A2001/U is smaller with a range of around 3,000 square feet and an output of 16 gallons per day but makes use of their water-saving tech as well.

Honeywell Cool Moisture Console Humidifier

The Honeywell HCM-6009

The Honeywell HE120A1010/U has a completely different design than those two models, but the same specifications as the HE280A2001/U. All four of these humidifiers need a direct water line and come with 1-year warranties. The Honeywell HCM-6009 is billed as a console humidifier and a capable machine that holds 3.25 gallons of water. While a step under the company’s other whole-house models, this one is made to sit in a room and doesn’t attach to your unit.

Honeywell Humidifier Features

Honeywell’s humidifiers come with a nice array of features across the board. That said, things are limited with the cool mist humidifiers as there’s only one system with three speeds or a 180-degree nozzle. The most standard feature in this class is automatic shut-off, but a few systems have variable outputs. The real features come into play with the Honeywell Cool Moisture humidifiers.

That’s where you’ll find things like notification lights, removable filters, and timers. Top-fill machines are more common in this range as well, along with units that have dishwasher-safe parts. The company has a handful of humidifiers that work with essential oils or medication as well. Honeywell’s systems range from around 0.5 to 3 gallons in size, but there are not connected devices or cutting-edge features.

Honeywell Humidifier Reviews

While we can’t say that homeowners have been unanimously pleased with Honeywell humidifiers, their mid-range and premium systems have solid reviews. The cheaper cool mist humidifiers have seen some issues with quality control, although all of their humidifiers are designed with ease of use in mind.

We didn’t notice a wealth of failures with any particular model or line when researching Honeywell humidifier reviews. Parts will be harder to find with cheaper models but shouldn’t be an issue with their premium systems given the 2 to 3-year guarantees. As long as you do your research on models beforehand, you should be confident about buying a system from the company.

Honeywell Humidifier Warranties

Honeywell has an excellent warranty policy on their humidifiers so that homeowners can expect a 3-year guarantee on most of their machines. That’s better than average, and replacement filters are affordable on the systems that require them. Finding replacement parts is going to be hit or miss with Honeywell humidifiers. They don’t have any listed on their official site, but we were able to locate a handful of various parts from other retailers.

Honeywell Humidifier Pricing and Availability

Most of the humidifiers from Honeywell are priced at the mid-range tier, although you’ll find some cheaper and several close to $100 as well. That’s a wide range, but only because they have an expansive collection of systems, including close to a half-dozen Ultrasonic humidifiers. Some of their cool moisture humidifiers are a little pricey when compared to systems of the same capacity, but they are in the middle of the pack when it comes to pricing.

Availability is a different story as Honeywell humidifiers are easy to acquire anywhere in the United States. The brand is carried in local stores like Walmart, Target, Home Depot, and Lowes. You can also purchase humidifiers direct from Honeywell or through online retailers like Amazon, Wayfair, and Sylvane.

Pros and Cons of Honeywell Humidifiers

It may be tempted to choose a Honeywell humidifier over another brand based on name recognition alone. Well, that could be a mistake depending on your needs and the type of humidifier you need for your home.

The advantages of choosing a system from Honeywell over another brand include the warranty, pricing, and availability. They have more humidifiers overall than comparable brands, and Honeywell humidifier pricing is competitive on most of their systems. The 2 to 3-year warranty is hard to argue with as well considering their price tags.

On the downside, you won’t find any designs that stand out aside from the HUL430 Designer Series Humidifier. Some of their mid-range systems are light on features compared to the competition as well, and they aren’t known for innovation in this area or introducing interesting and unique features like Dyson or Vornado.

Honeywell Humidifier FAQ

Q: Can I clean any parts of my humidifier in the dishwasher?

A: Some models are deemed dishwasher-safe by the company, but there is no information on other models. Tanks and water trays are typically the two parts that can be placed in dishwashers, but you’ll want to check with your user manual or the manufacturer beforehand.

Q: How often should I clean a humidifier from Honeywell?

A: The company recommends you clean their systems once a week following the guidelines in the manual.

Q: What’s the Humidity level Honeywell recommends in a room for one of their systems?

A: For most homeowners, the ideal humidity range is between 40% to 60%.

Q: When will I need to replace the filter in my humidifier?

A: Unless your system has a notification light for filter changes, you will need to replace it every few months. The figure varies depending on usage and water conditions in your home, however.

Q: Is it normal to find white dust on or near my humidifier?

A: If you have hard water in your home, a mineral residue can be left behind from the mist. Distilled water will solve that problem, but some systems work with mineralization cartridges or filters as well.

Q: Can I use essential oils or inhalants in a humidifier from Honeywell?

A: At this time, there are only three models that work with oils or inhalants with the Honeywell HUL430, HWM845, and the HWM-340B.
