Lennox Heat Pump Prices and Reviews 2025

lennox

Lennox is one of the leading manufacturers of equipment for improving indoor comfort. In addition to being extremely energy efficient, Lennox has also worked hard to make their products some of the quietest. Some of their heat pumps have a noise level as low as that of modern refrigerators.

As proof of the heat pumps efficiency, they received the Energy Star rating for most efficiency, twice in a row. Their heat pumps were rated as the most efficient heat pumps on earth. One of their unique features is the provision of a solar-powered heat pump. With the power of the sun, one can control the climate of their home, essentially for free with the Lennox heat pump.

How Lennox Heat Pumps Compare with Other Brands

When comparing Lennox heat pumps with other major HVAC manufacturers like Carrier, Trane, and Rheem, several key factors stand out. Let’s break down these comparisons across important categories:

Efficiency Ratings

Lennox consistently ranks among the top performers in energy efficiency. Their flagship model, the SL25XPV, achieves up to 24 SEER2 and 11 HSPF2 ratings, placing it among the most efficient heat pumps in the market. While Carrier and Trane also offer high-efficiency models, Lennox typically maintains a slight edge in maximum efficiency ratings.

Price Point and Value

Lennox heat pumps generally fall into the premium price category, similar to Carrier and Trane. While brands like Rheem and Goodman offer more budget-friendly options, Lennox justifies its higher price point through superior efficiency and advanced features. Homeowners should expect to pay 10-15% more for a Lennox system compared to mid-range brands.

Technology and Features

Lennox distinguishes itself with innovative features like:

  • iComfort Smart Thermostat compatibility
  • Variable-capacity compression in premium models
  • Quiet operation (as low as 58 decibels)
  • Advanced diagnostic capabilities

While competitors offer similar smart features, Lennox’s integration between components is particularly seamless.

Reliability and Warranty

Lennox offers industry-standard warranty coverage, typically including:

  • 10-year limited warranty on compressors
  • 5-year limited warranty on covered components
  • Extended warranty options available

Though slightly shorter than Trane’s warranties in some categories, Lennox’s reliability record remains strong. However, one potential drawback is that Lennox parts can be more expensive and harder to source compared to other brands.

Dealer Network

Lennox maintains a selective dealer network, which ensures quality installation but may limit availability in some areas. This contrasts with brands like Carrier and Rheem, which have more extensive dealer networks. While this exclusivity can mean longer wait times for service or repairs, it typically results in higher installation quality when compared to brands with less stringent dealer requirements.

*iComfort is a Lennox’s patent that can connect to WiFi thermostat to optimize performance.

*Lennox Communicating System is an optional function for high-end models with a monthly fee. In my opinion, it is not worth the money. You can install a $200–300 wifi ColorTouch thermostat instead.

• Merit Series: The Merit Series is priced affordably with efficiencies up to 14 SEER and 8.2 HSPF.

• Elite Series: The Elite Series is a mid-level product featuring SEER ratings that range from 14–20 and HSPF ratings from 9.5–10. Models are available with either a single-stage or two-stage compressor.

• Signature Series: The Lennox Signature Series provides exceptional levels of comfort and efficiency. Models in this series are extremely quiet and provide 23.5 SEER and 10.5 HSPF ratings. The XP25 and SL18XP1 can be combined with compatible solar panels to reduce energy consumption by up to 50 percent.

Take Away For Lennox Models

When you’re looking for the most cost-effective heating, the strategy is to find the balance between furnace cost and energy costs. Let’s use the zone map to identify efficiency levels for each that strike that balance:

Zone
Suggested SEER and HPSF
Cost-effective Models
Zones 1 & 2 (hot) 18-19 SEER/9.5-10 HSPF
XP20, XP21, XP25, SL25XPV, EL22XPV
Zone 3 & 4 (moderate) 14-15 SEER/8.5 HSPF
XP14, ML14XP1, 16HPX
Zone 5 (cool) 15-17 SEER/8.5-9.5 HSPF
XP16, XP14, ML14XP1, 16HPX
Zone 6 (cold) (18 SEER/9.5 HSPF) or (AC + Furnace) SL18XP1, EL18XPV
Zone 7 (very cold) (18 SEER/9.5 HSPF) or (AC + Furnace) SL18XP1, EL18XPV
Plan to move in the next few years 13-14 SEER/8 HSPF 14PHX or other low-end brands

Note: In Zones 6 and 7, the coldest zones, a system with an efficient gas furnace and small central air conditioner is also a good option; Lennox is one of the premium brands with higher initial cost. If you have the plan of moving house in less than 5 years, we recommend installing some quality but low-end brands like Payne, Ruud or Armstrong. 1. We’re very interested in having a Ductless heat pump installed in our 14′ x 19′ Sunroom that’s probably 80% glass. We want something that will be REAL quite. Looking at your chart on pricing, it doesn’t give me any type of estimate for a 1.5 – 2.0 ton Ductless system.
Is there anyone in Michigan who could give me a good idea?
